Worksplate North British Locomotive Coy Hyde Park Works Glasgow number 24779 dated 1942. Circular brass, ex Ministry of Supply (War Department) 2-8-0 later class 8F Locomotive WD 562. Taken into LMS stock in 1943 and numbered 8275 becoming 48275 under BR. Initially allocated to Heaton Mersey and spending most of its life there, it did see a short period at Buxton.  Ex loco condition.

British Railways (M) Enamel Station Direction Sign CENTRAL STATION with right facing arrow, measuring 28" x 13". Ex Manchester area. Good colour and shine with only slight blemishes.

British Railways enamel, Upper Quadrant Distant Signal complete with Spectacle. Ex Eastleigh West Junction line to Fareham. Excellent condition.

LNER steel 6' rule housed in a wooden box clearly stamped "LNER Whessoe Lane - Darlington". An unusual item not seen before. Whessoe Road is the site of the original Stockton & Darlington Works that transferred from Shildon to Whessoe Road in 1863 by which time the S&D had merged with the North Eastern Railway.

Great Northern Railway 3 aspect Handlamp complete with L&NER reservoir and BR burner. The reducing cone is stamped 'GNR A4/04' and also has the number around the side '16387'. The number stamped on the lamp side is 1511 indicating a marriage, no doubt carried out by the railway themselves at some time. A delightful lamp, tastefully restored.

British Railways Pocket Watch by Limit (No 2), Swiss Made. Face has the second hand in the lower half and bears the initials BR(W) and the number 03812. The rear case has had a spare fitted at some time, by the railway and is engraved GWR with the number 0.2231. The face bears no damage and the watch is in full working order.

A South Eastern Railway official leather document case, nicely embossed S.E.R. Dec 20 1885, this was probably used to convey official documents for the opening of a station or line, in totally original condition complete with key for the lock. A stunningly rare item the likes of which have not been seen before.

Diesel Flamecut cabside 25178, ex BR Type 2 Bo-Bo, later Class 25 locomotive D7528. Built by BR at Derby in February 1965 and allocated to Nottingham. Withdrawn April 1985 from Cricklewood and cut up at Vic Berry, Leicester. Measuring a manageable 27"x 8"

Worksplate, Beyer Peacock & Co Ltd , No 6682 ex GWR Pannier Tank 8702, built in 1931 her sheds included St Phillips Marsh, St Blazey, Newport Ebbw and lastly Herford from where she was withdrawn in May 1964 and then cut up at Swindon in June 1964. The worksplate has been face restored but the back retains its original patina.

North Eastern Railway Tyers Mahogany cased block instrument, complete and in excellent condition.

NER 12 fusee Mahogany cased drop dial clock, the original dial lettered LNER 5125 and ghosted W.POTTS & SONS LEEDS. The fusee movement is in good clean working condition , the drop of the case has a nice Flame mahogany veneer and the clock is in excellent overall condition, Research show that it was located at York in the Chief civil engineers accounts office. A nice early example dating from the latter part of the 19th Century.

Qty 3 Pocket Watches in need of attention. The first is an LNER enamel faced Limit, rear of case engraved L.N.E.R. 4342. The second hand is missing and the face has chips at 10 and 4 o'clock. The second is an LMS Swiss Recta with second hand. The rear of the case is engraved L.M.S 12606. The third is a BR(M) Swiss Phenix with second hand. Rear of case engraved BR(M) 21425. This one works for a while then stops.

Large cast model of LMS locomotive 6220 CORONATION on original wooden plinth. Believed to be one of just a few made for the LMS Directors to commemorate the visit of LMS Pacific 'Coronation' to America in 1939 (actually 6229 Duchess Of Hamilton in disguise) for the World Fair. An extremely rare item, whether any others survived is not known. Painted in original colours of maroon and straw.

British Railways Southern Region Signal box bell code notice from between BARNSTAPLE JcT and ILFRACOMBE. Lists all the Signal boxes, Motive power depots and crossing keepers boxes on the whole stretch of the line, dated 3rd March 1960, complete with original glazed frame, a superb reminder of this premier holiday line.

A pair of Mahogany LYR chairs, both of similar pattern with the LYR monogram carved into the back rail. Both are in good original condition and retain there original fabric fillings and gimp. A rare pattern of chair seldom seen.

Doorplate, BR(NE) GENTLEMEN, dark tangerine with black edge lettering, enamel F/F measuring 18" x 3½"  in virtually mint condition. Surprisingly rare.

Smokebox Numberplate 43798. Ex Deeley 0-6-0 3F Locomotive built Derby 1904 and originally numbered 268 then LMS number 3798. Withdrawn June 1958. Somewhat rusty from outside shed storage.

Totem, BR(M) BOURNVILLE, F/F. Ex Midland Railway station on the old Birmingham & Gloucester Railway line south of New Street. Site of the world famous Cadbury factory and of course the old Bournville MPD. Deep colour and shine with a couple of small, expertly repaired chips. An extremely scarce totem, photographic evidence suggesting only two on the station and this is the only 'known' one, GWRA having sold this some years ago for the first time.

Southern Railway framed and glazed notice re Special Instructions at WADEBRIDGE EAST BOX. A stunning item that lists all the regulations pertaining to this box as far as single line working between Wadebridge East and Wadebridge West, Electric Train tablet regulations between Wadebridge East , St. Kew Highway and Boscarne Junction and also every Shunting and Platform Bell Codes for Wadebridge. Measures 16" x 12½", dated December 1931, Waterloo Station. A wonderful reminder of the one of the most evocative names of the former LSWR North Cornish lines.

South Eastern Railway Police Truncheon measuring 17½" in length and bearing the large crown at the top, the initials 'S.E.R. horizontally across the centre and a pattern beneath. In absolutely superb condition with little sign of use.

Ex Swindon Works, Braime of Leeds,  large Firebox Inspection Flare Lamp with the handle stamped 'ENGR DEPT S'DON'.  Has a small brass makers plate on the side and comes in totally original condition. Undoubtedly from GWR days but unusually not stamped so.

Alloy Key Token BIDEFORD to TORRINGTON. Ex LSWR section on the Barnstaple to Torrington route in North Devon.

North Eastern Railway, Bracket clock with a going barrel movement which strikes on a Gong manufactured by Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Germany, supplied By Potts of Leeds . Oak  cased with intricate carving and a  silvered dial with black wax filled numerals. Stands 12" high and is 8" at widest, 6" deep. The rear door opens to reveal a label inscribed "W. Potts & Sons Watch & Clockmakers, Leeds" with various inscriptions including Mar 1921, Aug 1904. There is an additional, railway label showing it to be from the General Managers Office, Telecoms Centre, Room 11, Basement MHQ, York. Recently overhauled by 'Clock Tower, Morecambe' and guaranteed for 1 year from 21st September 2007. A lovely clock in extremely good condition. Note: Winterhalder and Hofmeier are possibly the most famous of the German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of movements and cases is always very high as seen in this example.

Worksplate, Hudswell Clark & Co Ltd Railway Foundry Leeds, England, number DE 1075 dated 1959. Oval brass engraved, face cleaned. Ex Manchester Ship Canal 430hp 0-6-0DE named "ALNWICK CASTLE" at  a ceremony outside the Dock Office 18/3/59. Unusual as most plates simply have a single letter D prefix. Sold and could recently be found at Winfield Shoe Co. Ltd., Hazel Mill, Blackburn Road, Acre, Rossendale.

BR(E) Enamel Sign, unflanged with British Railways Totem at the top, reads:- "Only Vehicles Over The Ferry Are Allowed On This Pier - No Vehicle Accepted Over 2 Tons Gross Weight". Measures 48" x 24".  Reasonable condition with some chipping/loss. Nevertheless, a very rare, probably unique sign indeed.

Poster, GWR 'Speed To The West', Q/R. Produced for the Great Western Railway to promote the company’s speedy services to the West of England. The poster shows a 'King' class locomotive on a holiday train for the West Country.  Artwork by Charles Mayo, who worked in the GWR publicity department. Some loss and a number of repairs to the rear, carried out recently with 'magic' tape which could be removed and the poster mounted to preserve. Despite the damage, this is one of the most evocative railway posters ever produced.

Poster, LMS Q/R 'New Brighton & Wallasey - Served By The L.M.S." by Claude Buckle. Printed by S.C. Allen & Company Ltd., 20 Gerrard Street, London. A quite wonderful image of costumed bathers and holidaymakers on the beach with the lighthouse, yachts, boats and ships as a backdrop. Extremely good condition with only minor stains and defects.

Nameplate ZANZIBAR, ex LMS Jubilee Class Locomotive numbered 5638, later 45638. Built Crewe in December 1934 and allocated at Longsight until 1960 when a move to Llandudno Junction took place. After a short stay on the N Wales coast route, a brief spell at Crewe and Warrington and then a return to Crewe until withdrawal in 1964 being cut up at the Works in April of that year. A wonderful Jubilee plate and a unique opportunity to own the only nameplate with the letter 'Z' appearing twice.

South Eastern Railway wrought iron and cast iron Platform Seat Ends, qty 3. The two extremities have the 'SER' initials cast within and the centre support is blank. They are complete and just need the old bolts removing, new wooden slats and a paint job to bring to former glory.

GWR Copper Tea Urn plated GWR Carriage Dept Mess Room. Additionally stamped 'GWR' on the brass tap. Stands 14" high, 11" diameter with carrying handles both sides. Complete with stainless steel lid

GWR, large, 9" tall EPNS Coffee Pots bearing the GWR Roundel logo. Reputedly, and confirmed by the purchaser of the actual coach, these were used to serve coffee to HM The Queen Mother on the occasion of the last use of GWR Saloon number 9001 by a member of The Royal Family in March 1968. These large size coffee pots are certainly uncommon. The logos are well worn from extreme polishing fit for Royalty.

British Railways, Darlington cast, right facing  Fox as produced for the LNER D49 'Hunt' Class 4-6-0 locomotive nameplates. This one is absolutely original but was not carried, just held in stores at Darlington Works.

Totem, BR(W) BATH GREEN PARK, H/F. Ex Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway station, home of the S&D and arguably one of the top totems ever. A lovely example, probably the best of the few that have ever come to market. It retains the top mounting bracket and has excellent colour and shine with minimal defects from actual use. Not to be missed.

LNWR D/R Poster: Fully titled and showing a central map to the image with coloured Vingnettes around the outside, the poster has been mounted to hardboard then onto chipboard and is contained within a pine frame ( no glass), this truly rare poster would benefit from being remounted and is a must for any serious LNWR collector.

Smokebox Numberplate 45034. Ex LMS Class 5 4-6-0 Locomotive built by the Vulcan Foundry under works number 4579 in 1934. Allocations include Rugby, Crewe South, Monument Lane and Speke Junction. Survived almost until the end of steam being withdrawn in 1968. Superb, ex loco condition just as it was removed from the loco and taken into possession by the Speke Junction Shed Master. A small number of quality, b/w photographs accompany.

Industrial Nameplate PREMIER  ex Peckett 0-4-0 OC Locomotive number 1079, built 18th December 1906. Used at Joseph Perrin and Son Haulage Contractors at Birkenhead Docks. Scrapped 1960.

Manchester Sheffield & Lincoln Railway, Grimsby Docks Metropolitan Police Whistle complete with chain. A magnificent and very scarce item, beautifully engraved 'M.S.& L.Ry Grimsby Docks 7'. Also bears the makers name 'J. Hudson & Co 131 Barr Street, Birmingham. Research shows that only 20 policemen were employed by this company at Grimsby Docks and this is the only whistle of this nature to have survived. A unique opportunity for the whistle collector.

Midland Railway copper Platform Lamp case with original, glass Lamp Tablet BOLTON ABBEY. Situated between Ilkley and Skipton, Bolton Abbey closed on the 22nd March 1965. The lamp is in fairly good condition but requires some restoration.

LNER A4 brass three-tone chime Whistle carried by A4 Pacific 4-6-2 Locomotive LORD FARRINGDON. Built at Doncaster Works No. 1877  in July 1938 and originally  named PEREGRINE.  Renamed LORD FARINGDON in March 1948.  Renumbered LNER 34 in November 1946 and became BR 60034 in March 1948.  A Kings Cross engine until October 1963 when it was transferred to St Margarets Edinburgh for a brief spell, ending up at Ferryhill, Aberdeen from where withdrawal took place in August 1966. Cut up by Hughes, Bolckow at Blyth.  Measures 13” x 5” and is mounted on a wooden plinth. A wonderful item in lovely condition.

British Railways Pocket Watch by Limit (No 2), Swiss Made. Face has the second hand in the lower half and bears the initials BR(W) and the number 03922. The rear case also engraved BR(W) and bears the same number. Small repair to enamel at 10 o'clock and between 4 and 5 o'clock, otherwise extremely good. In full working order.

Great Western Railway white Tail Lamp with company initials embossed on the chimney. Red bulls-eye front lens, it comes complete with original reservoir and GWR stamped burner. Has been tastefully restored with the initials picked out in black.

Smokebox Numberplate 92046. Ex Riddles 9F 2-10-0 locomotive built Crewe in February 1955 and allocated to Leicester. Withdrawn in October 1967 from Croes Newydd and cut up at Buttigiegs, Newport.

A Tyers No 6 Brass and steel single line Tablet OTTERHAM-CAMELFORD 11, from the ex LSWR Okehampton-Halwill-Padstow route which closed on the 3rd October 1966, hand engraved lettering, the face has not been stamped "Not In Use" as were most of this section and others from Devon & Cornwall (as was the Custom at Exeter Central S&T Dept) before being sold.

Nameplate SIR DURNORE, ex SR King Arthur Class 4-6-0 Locomotive. Built Eastleigh in October 1926 by the Southern Railway to Maunsell design and numbered 802, later 30802 by British Railways. Allocations include Ashford and Stewarts Lane. Withdrawn in July 1961. Sir Durnore was thought to be the alternative spelling of Sir Dornard who was son of King Pellinore, brother of Agglovale, Lamorak, Percival and Torre.

Fine linen measuring 12" x 8", this delightful item bears the following inscription: "The enclosed towel is issued for the convenience of the passenger, with the compliments of the Great Western railway Company. The company respectfully request that the passenger will kindly replace it in the bag provided and leave it on the rack of the compartment on completion of the journey". Excellent condition and of considerable scarcity.

GWR Mahogany cased 6½" Diameter Signal Box / Office Wall Clock, this type of clock is generically known as a "Pork Pie" however this is the much rarer French version which were supplied before the GWR bought the later type Smiths types. The French version has a much better quality movement and porcelain dial which is similar to the brass drum clocks supplied to the GWR, the clock is in restored and working condition.

Peckett Loco Lamp complete with original reservoir and burner and retaining the red, slide-in colour changer. Top chimney bears the brass makers plate 'Peckett & Sons Ltd, Engineers, Bristol'. Front bullseye lens has a crack obtained in service. An uncommon lamp that has been repainted matt black with a white cowl interior.

Measures 6" x 4" with cream lettering on a chocolate background. Just about mint condition with the slightest of marks around the boltholes.

Totem, BR(S) PINHOE, F/F. Ex LSWR station just outside Exeter closed 7th March 1966. A lovely totem with only minor blemishes from use. Extremely rare, only once on the market long ago.

LMS Hotels china Egg Cups, qty 4 with Serving Dish. The Dish has a typically English thatched cottage with flower garden covering half of the surface, the rest being delicately coloured and finished with orange rim decoration. It has the tiniest of rim chips at 11 o'clock. Beneath is the makers name 'Royal Venton Ware - J.Steventon & Sons, Burslem' and 'LMS Hotels' inscribed. The central hole is fitted with an EPNS lifting handle. The Egg Cups have a floral design, 3 of the 4 Rose & Pansy, the 4th Fresia and Bluebells. No markings beneath but the rim finish indicates these are originals. One Egg Cup has a rim chip.
